Airlines & Routes

Here are the main flight options currently available:

Direct / Nonstop flights

  • GOL Linhas Aéreas operates nonstop flights from Miami to Fortaleza.
  • Typically 2 flights per week most commonly Wednesdays and Saturdays (though schedule can vary by season).
  • LATAM Airlines also offers nonstop service on this route, with a number of flights each month.
  • American Airlines & Delta: Also listed as flying direct from MIA to FOR.

Note: Nonstop service is limited; flights tend to be scheduled a few times per week rather than daily.

Connecting flights

  • LATAM Airlines Brazil and other carriers like American Airlines can offer 1-stop or 2-stop options, connecting through São Paulo or Brasilia.
  • These give flexibility on dates and sometimes better pricing, though travel time is longer.
  • Connecting flights are available daily with one or more stops, depending on airline and season. Keep in mind: Airlines sometimes change schedules seasonally (peak vs low season travel), so clients should check exact dates when booking.

Booking Tips

  • Book early (6–8 weeks ahead) especially if traveling in high season (late winter through spring and summer) to secure better pricing and availability.
  • Flexible dates can help clients find lower fares (weekday departures often cheaper than weekends).
  • Connecting flights may cost less than limited nonstop options but will have longer total travel time.

Arrival & Transfer

Upon arrival at Fortaleza International Airport (FOR), a member of our team will be there to welcome you and assist with your transfer. From the airport, you’ll travel comfortably by air-conditioned minibus or private transfer directly to Ilha do Guajiru.

The journey takes approximately 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Along the way, you’ll pass through coastal landscapes and small villages, giving you a first glimpse of the region before reaching the kite paradise.

Once in Ilha do Guajiru, you’ll be dropped off directly at your pousada, ensuring a smooth, stress-free arrival from start to finish. Sit back, relax, and let us take care of the logistics you’re officially on wind time.

What Gear to Bring

Travel Tip

If you want to travel light, we offer kite and board rentals locally perfect for avoiding airline fees while still riding gear suited to strong wind conditions.

Kites - 25 to 30 Knots Wind

Primary size: 7m – 9m

Optional backup: 10m-12m (for lighter or gusty days)

Strong, steady winds mean smaller kites are used most of the time. Riders under 75 kg often ride 7–8m, while heavier riders may prefer 9m.

Board

Twin-tip: 128–136 cm (smaller boards for more control in strong wind)

Strapless surfboard: Small to medium wave board with good volume control

Avoid oversized boards, they become hard to control in 30 knots.

Bar & Lines

Standard 22–24 m lines

Optional shorter lines (20 m) for better control in strong wind

Make sure bar safety systems are in excellent condition.

Harness

Waist harness for mobility and edging control

Seat harness recommended for beginners or long sessions in strong wind

Bring spare spreader bar screws if possible.

Protection & Safety

Helmet (strongly recommended)

Impact vest or flotation vest

Reef-safe sunscreen (wind + sun exposure is intense)
